People are leaving tributes to Robin Williams outside the Mork and Mindy house

The legendary comedian and actor died yesterday in a suspected suicide.

FANS OF THE late actor Robin Williams are leaving tributes to him outside the house where the 80s TV series Mork and Mindy was set.

Yesterday, Williams was found dead at his home in California at the age of 63 – early reports from the local coroner indicate the death was a suicide.

Later that day a makeshift memorial to the actor was set up outside the house in Boulder, Colorado where the character Mindy lived in the series.

Williams made his name as the goofy alien Mork, who was sent to earth to observe human behaviour. The actor famously improvised a great deal of his lines, to such an extent that the director allegedly left gaps in the script so Mork could ‘do his thing’.

In 1979, he won a Golden Globe for his role in the series.

He went on to star in such films as Dead Poets Society, Jumanji, Mrs Doubtfire and Aladdin, winning an Oscar in 1998 for his role in Good Will Hunting.
